Akiak Technology is looking for a Scrum Master to join our team to provide services for a government agency. You are a leader who helps teams self-organize, self-manage, and deliver by teaching and coaching effective Agile practices. You help Agile teams deliver in areas including quality, predictability, flow, and velocity and help teams maintain daily collaboration and focus on Sprint priorities. You facilitate team ceremonies, including the daily stand up, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.  You help implement change as part of the team’s continuous improvement effort and learn how the team works to help make recommendations to improve efficiency, communication, and planning. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day management guidance and direction to scrum teams in the execution of tasks defined in the PWS.
  • Use proven software development methodologies, including Large Scale Scrum (LeSS), SAFe, VIP and Process Asset Library (PAL) that assure that all contract-driven activities are identified, documented, and tracked so that the contract shall continuously be evaluated and monitored for timely and quality service.
  • Act as primary interface with client and ensure client’s needs are met within the scope of this project and our contract
  • Using agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver solutions
  • Helping the product owner and development team to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Lead the scrum and development teams in self-organization
  • Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments
  • Help the scrum and development teams to identify and fill in blanks in the Agile framework
  • Resolve conflicts and issues that occur
  • Support the product owner and provide education where needed
  • Prepare and analyze reports to help identify and mitigate risk
  • Coaching the client and team on backlog refinement and prioritization
  • This role is the primary interface with the customer and requires high-level of professionalism; and oral and written communications skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • 8 years of experience supporting software development programs
  • 5 years of experience leading a program using either LeSS or SAFe (required)
  • Strong experience as a Scrum Master and software development methodologies and proven ability to lead scrum teams in the execution of project tasks and providing monitoring including risk/issues management
  • Knowledge of methodologies, technologies, frameworks, and toolsets such as Agile methodology, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), IBM Rational toolset, VIP, and Project Management Institute Project Management Body of Knowledge
  • Deep understanding of scaled agile development methodologies (SAFe)
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship
  • Must meet all requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance

Education And Professional Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific / technical discipline
  • Additional 8 years’ relevant experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree
  • Leading SAFe certification (required)
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) (preferred)
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
